Family, friends, and loved ones are mourning the passing of Elizabeth “Lisa” Franks, a cherished resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, formerly of La Crete, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the age of 61.
Elizabeth was born on October 26, 1964, in Fort Vermilion, Alberta, where she grew up as the youngest of thirteen children. Her life was marked by determination and perseverance, qualities she demonstrated when she earned her GED in Grande Prairie while raising her two youngest children—a milestone she considered one of her proudest personal achievements.
Known for her entrepreneurial spirit, Elizabeth was never afraid to embrace hard work or pursue new opportunities. She had a natural gift for conversation, always ready to share a laugh or engage in meaningful discussions. Above all, she held her family close to her heart, taking immense pride in her children, her husband, her faith, and her cherished friendships. She was often described as a fighter, someone who “wrestled with God,” reflecting the depth of her faith and resilience.
Elizabeth found joy in many creative and nurturing pursuits throughout her life. She had a passion for art, gardening, crocheting, baking, cooking, canning, interior design, and music. Whether tending to her garden, creating something beautiful, or preparing meals for loved ones, she found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Paul Franks; her children, Kevin (Jena), Terry (Tessa), Tamara (Brad), Priscilla (Hogan), Bobby (Brianna), Carson (Aliesha), Deanna (Carson), and Josie (Clint); and her treasured grandchildren Zoe, River, Easton, Arianna, Asher, Emmett, Cedric, Finnick, Briar, Delaylas, Damian, Oaklan, Jaelynn, Kinley, Presley, Chainey, Brady, Aiden, Charlotte, Naziya, Jasmine, and Kaysie.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her father, Herman Banman; her mother, Maria Teichroeb; and her brothers, Jake, Herman, and Peter Banman.
A funeral service in honor of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home, 10005 107 Avenue, Grande Prairie. Interment will follow at Emerson Trail Cemetery, 62048 AB-672, in Sexsmith, Alberta.
