Authorities in Aiken County, South Carolina, are urgently searching for 4-year-old Javeayah Kemauni Harris, who was reported missing Tuesday night.
According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at approximately 8:43 p.m. reporting the missing child in the area of Hillsboro Street and Ridgecrest Road.
An incident report states that Javeayah’s mother last saw her around 8:00 p.m. playing with chickens near a chicken coop on the property. When she could no longer locate her, authorities were contacted.
Javeayah was last seen wearing a pink Disney shirt with matching shorts, pink beads in her hair, and Crocs.
Her father reportedly arrived home around 9:00 p.m. and told deputies he had been at a laundromat for approximately an hour and a half.
Law enforcement immediately launched an extensive search operation. Deputies established roadblocks throughout the area to identify potential witnesses, a strategy that remains in place as investigators continue gathering information.
Search efforts have expanded significantly, with authorities conducting a grid search covering more than 3,000 acres on foot. The operation includes helicopters, drones, K-9 units, and nearly 200 law enforcement officers and first responders.
The FBI’s Columbia field office is assisting with analytical support, including agents who specialize in missing children cases.
Investigators have also begun collecting surveillance footage, entering homes and businesses in the area to review any potential video evidence.
Officials emphasized that, at this time, there is not enough evidence to issue an Amber Alert, as there is no confirmed indication of an abduction. The case is currently being treated as a missing persons investigation, and search efforts are continuing under that classification.
Digital billboards have been activated to raise public awareness, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
Anyone who may have seen Javeayah or has relevant information is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 502-5200.
Officials are also requesting that anyone with video or photographs from the area between June 15 and June 30 submit that material to investigators, as it may be critical in helping locate the missing child.
The search remains active and ongoing as authorities continue working around the clock to bring Javeayah home safely.
